Privacy Policy
The short version
- Your camera video never leaves your phone. The phone turns your body into a stick figure and moves; only those go to the game.
- No photo is ever saved on our server. Photos only pass through on their way from your phone to your own TV.
- We keep only what the game needs: your email, your team name and your Beta rewards.
- No adverts, no ad trackers, and we never sell your data.
Who we are
RUN JANYM RUN is made by an independent developer based in Thailand. Contact: hi@runjanymrun.com.
How the game works, and what that means for your data
You play with two devices: a TV (or any big screen with a web browser) shows the game, and a phone watches you move.
- Camera. The phone's camera feed is analysed on the phone itself. The video is never recorded, uploaded or stored. What the phone sends to the game is a list of body positions (a stick figure) and the moves it detected, such as "jump" or "squat".
- Connection. When your phone and TV are on the same WiFi, they connect directly to each other, so your stick figure and moves go straight from the phone to the TV and never reach our server. To set this up, our server passes each device's home-network address to the other device in the same game, once, and does not keep it. If a direct connection isn't possible, the phone and TV talk through our server instead, which passes the stick figure and moves along in real time and does not keep them.
- Face photo (optional). If you choose to, the phone takes a small face photo so your runner looks like you. It is kept on your phone, and sent to your TV through our server when you join a game, without being saved. Say no and your runner gets a cartoon face.
- Action photos (optional). If you said yes, the phone snaps a few action shots during a run (for example your best jump). They pass through our server to your TV, appear once on the results screen, and are forgotten when the next round starts. Nothing is saved on our server.
What we store
| Data | Why | How long |
| Email address of each player 13 or older | Your Beta sign-up, your Member code, important messages about the game, and (only if you agree) news such as when the Club House opens | Until you ask us to delete your account |
| Your player name, man or woman, and your birth year (from the age you type) | Your character on the TV, your Team board, the age groups of future rankings, and our own anonymous statistics (for example how many players are 35–54). We never sell it. | Until you ask us to delete your account |
| Whether you said yes to news and offers (and when) | We only send news and offers if you ticked that box; untick it any time by writing to us | Until you ask us to delete your account |
| Your Team: its name, who is in it (player names), each player's Member code, free time, invite link and invite rewards (which friend Teams joined, by Team name) | To give you access, your free time and your rewards | Until you ask us to delete your account |
| Each signed-in player's results: score, world, estimated calories, play time and date | Your Team board on any TV, and later your own and your Team's Run Score and the Club House rankings (shown by player name and age group, never a photo) | Until you ask us to delete your account |
| Guests (players not signed in) | Their score shows on the results screen only | Not stored |
| Short technical logs (for example errors), which can include an IP address | Keeping the service running and secure | Deleted automatically as newer logs replace them (a small, fixed amount is kept) |
On your own devices the game remembers a few things in the browser (your player name, man or woman, face photo if you took one, and which game room you're in), so you don't have to set up again. You can clear them any time by clearing the site data in your browser.
Who helps us run it
- Hosting: our server is rented from Contabo, in a data centre in Japan.
- Email: support emails are handled with Google (Gmail); Member codes and account emails are sent by an email delivery provider.
- Statistics: we use Google Analytics to count visits and see how the game is played (for example which worlds are played, by how many players). It never receives camera images, names or email addresses, and IP addresses are shortened. You can block it with your browser’s privacy settings or an ad blocker.
- Fonts: the website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address when the font is downloaded.
They only process data to provide their service to us. We don't use advertising or analytics companies.
Children
A Team is started by an adult (18 or older). Players aged 13–17 sign up with their own email and can only join a Team started by an adult. A player under 13 can join a Team only when an adult of that Team allows it on their own phone; we then keep their player name, man or woman, birth year and results, but no email address (their Member code is shown to the adults of their Team instead). When they turn 13, the person who started the Team can add their own email. Children play with an adult present. Their results show on their Team board; when Club House rankings open, players aged 13–17 may appear there by player name and age group only, and players under 13 are only visible inside their own Team. A parent or guardian can ask us to see, change or delete a child's data at any time. We don't knowingly collect the email address of a child under 13; if you think we have, write to us and we'll delete it.
Your rights
You can ask us to show, correct, export or delete your data, or to stop sending you news, at any time: write to hi@runjanymrun.com. We answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Changes
This is a Beta and the game is growing. If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and tell players by email.
